CIC Course Sharing Consortium

CIC Course Sharing Consortium

Saint Benedict's, Saint John's and the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) have an online sharing consortium, powered by Acadeum.

The CIC Online Course Sharing Consortium (CIC-OCSC) allows member institutions to work together to develop innovative solutions in a challenging academic landscape. Colleges and universities can expand academic capacity, quickly launch new programs, deliver workforce-aligned micro-credentials and stackable certificates, and reach new populations of learners.

CIC-OCSC helps member institutions support student success, expand curricular offerings, drive enrollment by engaging collaboratively. The Consortium is powered by Acadeum, and is designed to allow cross-registration for courses on any of the CIC campuses.

Undergraduate Students

Registration for consortium courses is limited to the summer term, and courses are available on a space-available basis.

Registration

  1. Application
    • Submit your request using the Acadeum Student Application during summer registration.

    • Approval is required from the Registrar's Office, which will check eligibility and space availability in requested course(s). The student must satisfy all the course prerequisites of the Teaching Institution, if any.

  2. Approval and Access
    • Once approved, you will receive welcome information from the Teaching Institution, including login information for their learning management system.
    • Important dates, such as drop dates to avoid charges, and textbook or supporting material requirements will also be included in the welcome information.

Benefits

  • Any course completed through CIC-OCSC will appear as a CSB and SJU course on your transcript, along with a corresponding grade.
  • CIC-OCSC courses will factor into your cumulative GPA calculation.

Tuition, Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition and any additional fees (e.g., for laboratory or studio materials) will be billed at the rates prevailing at College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University.

Courses completed through CIC-OCSC will be counted towards full-time status for academic and financial aid purposes, but restrictions apply. Contact the CSB or SJU Financial Aid Office for any financial eligibility questions.

Repeating Courses

Repeating a course through CIC-OCSC that was originally completed at CSB and SJU requires department chair approval.

Important Considerations:

  • The CIC-OCSC course share program is subject to change without notice or obligation.
  • Ensure you understand the policies and deadlines to avoid any issues with registration or billing.
