Accounting Major

This concentration is ideal for students interested in understanding the language of business. It is more flexible than the public accounting concentration. It is ideal for students who are planning to study abroad, planning on double majoring in accounting and another discipline, planning on minoring in one or more unrelated disciplines, planning to explore entrepreneurial opportunities, looking for a career in a business' accounting department, or may be expecting to graduate early.

The accounting major (no concentration) DOES prepare students for the CPA exam, but not to the extent of the public accounting concentration. Students who expect to attain a CPA license will still need to abide by the 150 credit hour rule in order to attain the CPA license. However, students may sit for the CPA exam with fewer credits as long as they will be graduating with an accounting degree.
